Hair Colors That Will Match a Medium Skin Tone
- A medium skin tone with no skin-color undertones is considered a cool-colored skin tone. Other types of cool-toned skin include having pink or blue undertones, colorless fair skin or freckled faces. For this skin tone, cool, overtone hair colors would look best.
If you have yellow or gold undertones, then you have a warm skin tone. Warm, overtone hair colors look best with this type of skin. A peaches-and-cream complexion or a creamy complexion are considered warm skin tones. - If you look good in red, orange, golden colors, or olive green---then warmer hair tones flatter you. Possible hair colors include golden brown, strawberry blonde, auburn, or golden blonde.
If a light purple, fuchsia, royal blue, pine green or black are your best colors, then opt for cool hair tones. These colors include platinum blonde, ash blonde, ash brown, jet black, and burgundy.
If your wardrobe colors lean toward purple, gray, periwinkle or teal, neutral hair colors will suit you. These colors include sandy blonde, chocolate brown, mahogany and beige blonde. - A visible way to test how hair colors look next to your skin is by conducting a strand test. Take a few strands of hair from underneath your hair and apply the color you wish to test. You can do this with a hair dye from your local drug store. Allow the dye to sit for 20 minutes then wash it out. If this is the color for you, then you can dye the rest of your hair. If not, then you can try another strand of hair.
- If you are going to a stylist, bring a few pictures of the color you want. This will clear up any confusion when trying to describe your desired color to your stylist.
When you have the right hair color, you do not have to wear much makeup. The right color will make your skin glow.
Deep condition your hair once a week to keep the hair healthy and to control damage from coloring. - Reds will fade much faster than any other color.
Consider the upkeep and root touch-ups for your hair. The farther away from your natural color you go, the more touch- ups you will need.
If you have to wear more makeup, your hair color is wrong.
Consider the condition of your hair before coloring it. Brittle, damaged or weak hair should not be chemically treated with coloring, permanent waving or straightening chemicals.
