My Samsung Washer Is Leaking From the Detergent Drawer

104 7

    Normal Use

    • When the detergent dispenser is opened after the wash cycle is complete, some water left inside the drawer isn't unusual. This is water left over from the normal dispensing of the detergent and is considered normal. No additional action is necessary.

    Detergent Type

    • Samsung washing machines are designed for use with high efficiency (HE) detergent, which uses less foam to clean items in the machine. As such, if regular detergent is used in the washer, over-sudsing might result, which can cause leaking from the detergent drawer. In addition, owners need to follow product instructions for the amount of detergent, even HE detergent, to be used in the machine.

    Starting the Washer

    • Before starting the washing machine, push the detergent drawer in place firmly. Leaving the dispenser open slightly can cause water or detergent to leak out during the wash cycle and may prevent the machine from dispensing the soap properly.

    Siphon Cap

    • The detergent dispenser has separate compartments for detergent, liquid bleach and fabric softener. Inside the fabric softener and bleach compartments is a small siphon cap that is responsible for dispensing the detergents properly and preventing items from mixing. If the siphon cap is loose or missing, the dispenser can leak. Replace the cap firmly, or contact Samsung for a replacement if necessary.
