How to Compare Mini DVD Camcorders
- Look for the best optical zoom. Cameras feature a high digital zoom, but that causes distortion to videos. Look for the best optical zoom to achieve the best value and quality lens.
- Check to see if the camcorder accepts DVD-RW (re-writable) discs. This will allow you to upload footage to a computer and record over discs multiple times. In the long run, this feature can save hundreds of dollars.
- Find camcorders that offer multiple ports for a better recording experience. For example, a high-quality camcorder will feature microphone ports, external lighting ports, headphone ports and a tripod adapter on the bottom of the camera.
- A camera with a viewfinder and an LCD screen will give you more recording options and prevent the sun from blocking out the screen. Look for LCD sizes over 2.5 inches for the best screen resolution.
- Look for extras with the camcorder, like an extra battery, external charger, remote, arm straps, blank DVD media, video editing software and RCA cables for a television connection. Factor in all the elements to make the best selection.
