- 1). Contact the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court's office in person, by phone or by email to find out the current fee for copies of a marriage certificate and to request your copy.
- 2). Mail a letter requesting the copy and include a check or money order for the fee, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of the certificate. Provide a copy of your driver's license for identification purposes. If you visit the clerk in person, order and pay for the certificate. Whether requesting the license in writing or in person, provide you and your spouse's first and last names, your social security numbers, and the date the license was originally received.
- 3). Allow for up to five weeks for the marriage certificate to arrive if you ordered by mail.
