    • 1). Download and install the latest version of iTunes on your computer, following the installation instructions detailed on the download web site.

    • 2). Launch iTunes and insert your CD into the computer's drive. Alternatively, drag and drop your existing digital music files into the "LIBRARY" section in the left-hand column of iTunes. The CDs track or your music files will be added to the iTunes library.

    • 3). Click "Edit" in the menu at the top of the iTunes window, and then select "Preferences."

    • 4). Select the "General" tab, followed by the "Import Settings..." button in the "When you insert a CD" section. Although this section is labeled for CD settings, it's also used for all other music files in the iTunes library.

    • 5). Select the file format you want iTunes to convert your MP3s, CDs or other music files into from the "Import Using" drop down menu. Click the "OK" button to close the window after your selection is made, followed by the "OK" button in the "General" window.

    • 6). Click the "Music" option in the iTunes "LIBRARY" section. A list of current music files and CD tracks will be listed in the main iTunes window. Select any tracks you want to convert and click the "Advanced" menu at the top of the iTunes window.

    • 7). Select "Create MP3 Version" and iTunes will automatically convert the selected track(s). If you chose to convert the files into a different format, the option in the "Advanced" menu will reflect that choice. For example, it will say "Create AAC Version" instead of "Create MP3 Version" if that's the format you selected in the iTunes preferences.
