Design Ideas for Jelly Labels

    By Hand

    • Buy blank peel-and-stick labels at any office supply store. Use permanent art markers to draw pictures of fruit onto the labels. Write the kind of jelly on the label with permanent markers. Draw a border around the picture and words. Use a variety of colors. For a gift, you can write a message on the label, such as, "Dear Sarah, enjoy this sweet homemade jelly. Love, Mom."

    With Rubber Stamps

    • Rubber stamps are available with designs all ready for the purpose of stamping on labels for preserves and jellies. Simply press the rubber stamp into a rubber stamp ink pad, and stamp the design onto a label. Some rubber stamps made specifically for use as jelly label designs even have lines on which to write "to" and "from," just like a gift tag.

    Create on Your Computer

    • Find pictures or clip art of strawberries, blackberries, peaches, apricots or any fruit to identify the kind of jelly in your canning jars. Google: "clip art, fruit". Follow the directions for the specific art or creator program you are using. You can add orders, words or just have a line to hand write the name of the jelly. Print the designs out onto peel-and-stick labels with your printer.

Alternately, use pre-designed templates to print out jelly labels. On the Internet, search for "free jelly labels". Microsoft Word offers a template as well.

    Tie-On Cards

    • If you do not have labels, any of these ideas can be created on plain card stock. Punch a hole in the card, and use a pretty ribbon or twine to tie the card label around the neck of the canning jar.
