Ping G20 Driver Comes Out Ahead Of The Rest

Anytime I’m in the market for a new club, Ping is one of the first companies I look at because I know their products rarely disappoint. Following in the victorious footsteps of the G5, G10 and G15 is the G20 in all its muscular, forgiving glory. It has more tendency to slice if you go too hard but looks and sounds good at address and impact.

PING’s new G20 driver combines the best qualities from two of their drivers from last season, the K15 and Ping G15 Driver. PING has a staunch following that borders on fanaticism yet they always offer clubs that may look ‘plain’ or ‘boring’ but lately their designs are slowly emerging from those shells while still maintaining their core values. The G20 looks great at address and fills me with confidence.

This club has transformed my game. I bought the G20 Driver to make my Ping G20 irons paired with. My drives are consistently straight, with great ball flight and distance. I prefer the softer feel and sound of Ping drivers and the G20 feels and sounds wonderful. Designed specifically for the G20 series, the TFC 169D is a lightweight graphite shaft which gives higher swing speeds for higher launch and low spin, with a livelier, more responsive feel and a softer tip for increasing dynamic launch.

There’s something about the feel that puts me in a relaxed mood and the resulting tempo and smoothness of my swing appears to follow suite with the Ping G20 driver. Now when I'm over the ball I know I will be hitting the fairway and hitting it long and straight. Previously the majority of my tee shots were affected by a shocking slice, in fact I took the decision to remove my driver from my bag.

It also delivered when it came to distance and dispersion – not quite top of the tree, but certainly in the upper echelons and that, combined with the subjective ratings, made it a winner. Across nine testers of diff ering abilities, the G20 has come out ahead of the rest and is rightfully the Best on Test for 2012. Just getting up to date on the recent issue from Ping. I honestly believe that Ping offers a bit more forgiveness in all of their clubs.
