Decorating a Bathroom in Tropical Decor
- Use fresh, natural colors for your walls and accessories. Try a light blue as your wall color, or go for a more neutral sand-colored paint. Use dark green to mimic the colors of tropical plants, and a sunny yellow to remind you of those bright days on a tropical beach.
- Add plants to your counters and shelves. Tropical plants will thrive in a steamy bathroom, especially if you have windows or skylights. Use silk plants if you prefer to not care for a living plant.
- Add photos and pictures of a tropical rain forest or beach. Paint a mural of jungle plants on the wall, hiding a jaguar or monkey in the trees and vines. Stencil palm trees on your walls. Hang a shadow box to display your collection of sea shells. Add texture and dimension to your walls by hanging silk vines.
- Use wispy cotton fabrics for your window treatments. Use shell necklaces as tie backs. Off-white, dark green or bright orange fabric will work well for your bathroom's tropical décor. Try a fabric that makes a bold statement, such as an animal print or jungle print.
- Add wicker baskets for additional storage. Hang towels and wash clothes, adding splashes of color. Use toothbrush holders, soap dishes and the like that you cover in fabric to match your window treatments. Add jungle animal knickknacks to shelves or counters.
