How to Get Hair to Grow Faster

    • 1). Trim your hair. While you may be resistant to cutting your hair at all, it will actually grow faster if you removed damaged portions. If you don't, split ends can work their way up the entire hair shaft, seriously stunting growth attempts. Make trims part of your regular haircare routine and get them every six to 12 weeks.

    • 2). Eat protein. Protein is the main building-block of hair. If you increase your protein intake, your hair will likely grow more quickly. Eat meat, dairy products, soy and nuts, all of which are rich in protein.

    • 3). Take biotin. This dietary supplement encourages hair growth if you take 2.5 milligrams daily. It's available in most health food stores.

    • 4). Massage your scalp. Massage encourages circulation so nutrients can more easily reach your hair follicles, thereby stimulating growth cycles. Use firm pressure to rub your scalp daily for at least two minutes.

    • 5). Consume folic acid. Like other B vitamins, folic acid is essential to overall hair health. You can find it naturally occurring in a wide range of food sources, such as soybeans, nuts and carrots.

    • 6). Rest. If you don't get adequate nightly sleep, it can impede hair growth cycles. Likewise, stress can slow hair growth. Get at least seven hours of sleep nightly and practice relaxation techniques to reduce stress.
