How to Make a Putumayo-Style Scarf Belt

104 4
    • 1). Measure the length of your waist or hips where you want to wear the scarf belt. If the scarf is not at least twice this length, then you will need to cut it in half. Cut the scarf in half lengthwise, and sew the two halves together along the short end.

    • 2). Place the middle of the scarf across the front of your stomach or hips. Bring the ends around to the back.

    • 3). Crisscross the ends in the back and bring them back to the front. Cross the ends and pull tightly as if you were starting to make a bow.

    • 4). Twist each end of the scarf and tuck it into the top layer of the scarf to hide the ends. You can also make a second knot for a more three-dimensional look to the scarf belt.
