Is There a Way to Paint Acrylic on an Oil Base?
- 1). Repair any small holes with wall repair compound or spackle and hammer any nails that have popped out back into the wall. Smooth rough surfaces with sandpaper. Use No. 120 grit if you are applying wall repair compound or No. 220 grit if you are using spackle. Apply a thin layer of the compound and allow it to dry. Repeat if necessary.
- 2). Cover the floors with canvas painter's cloth or plastic. Tape the edges of windows, the ceiling, baseboards, outlets and light switches. Cut in, or paint the edges of, the first wall with primer and the paint brush. Cover the rest of the wall with primer. Repeat for the other walls. Allow the primer to dry completely.
- 3). Cut in the edges of the first wall with acrylic paint and the paint brush. Cover the rest of the wall with acrylic paint. Repeat for the other walls. Allow the paint to dry completely and repeat the process for a second coat.
