The Indian Way of Decorating a Home
In my last visit to India, I visited some beautiful Indian families with beautiful Indian homes. I was so inspired and scintillated with the Indian decor of the homes that I felt an immediate need to share my findings about the Indian home decor through this article.
The way a home is decorated tells a lot about the culture, perception and life experiences of the inhabitant. Home decor is a clear picture of the whole legacy of culture that is behind the life of the inhabitants. Indian homes, especially, have great and long cultural tales to tell. The rich and vibrant folk lore, the artistic knick knacks, the beautiful colors splashed across the space combine to offer a great Indian home decor.
The most interesting elements in an Indian home decor are the portraits of Gods and Goddesses. Indian homes (especially, the Hindu homes) are full of portraitures and portraits of Gods and Goddesses. In modern transformed look or the traditional jewel clad look, the Gods and Goddesses never leave a corner of a Hindu Indian household. There are idols made of brass, marble and other materials all around€¦ be it in the living room table or the kitchen countertop laminate, the homes are accessorized with the sacred pieces.
Another most interesting thing constituting a home decor inspired by Indian culture is the mirror. Mirror being a functional element is also used as an accessory. Big, small, with shapes or without, mirrors are everywhere in an Indian household. There are fabrics and linens with rich designs and mirrors crafted on them. There are walls with mirrors as accessories on them. Mirrors combined with stylish and exotic frames, make for very interesting accessories. Mirrors with wooden frames, especially, with the deep colored wood laminate look great and look extremely charming adding up the elegance and class factor.
The next thing worth mentioning is the color choice in an Indian household. Indian homes usually choose colors like burgundy, orange, red and beige. Indian colors are usually bright and cheerful. The colors that Indian homes have are all about varied cultures and varied influences from the states all over the country. Interestingly, the fabrics, the furniture linens, the walls and even the laminate furnishing€¦all include a great surge of colors and hues when it comes to Indian decor and design.
Lastly, interesting lighting options are fascinating in the Indian household. People use lanterns, lamps and hanging lights with colorful covers. There is this and so much more that Indian-ized decor of a home has.
