How to Perform an Upgrade of Windows 2000 From a Remote Computer on the Network
- 1). Find the computer name of your Windows 2000 computer. You will need this computer name to access it from another computer on your network. Right-click on "Computer" and click "Properties." Click "General" and write down the computer name of the machine.
- 2). Turn on the machine you will use to remotely connect to your Windows 2000 computer.
- 3). Click "Start."
- 4). Click "All Programs."
- 5). Click "Accessories" and then "Remote Desktop Connection." Type the computer name of your Windows 2000 computer into the box and click "Connect." You will now be remotely connected to your Windows 2000 computer. You will be controlling that machine using the keyboard and mouse on the machine you are currently using.
- 6). Click "Start."
- 7). Click "Programs."
- 8). Click "Windows Update." The Internet Explorer Web browser on your Windows 2000 computer will launch and the Windows Update page will automatically load. Click "Check for Updates" and then "Download" to download any available upgrades for your Windows 2000 computer.
