How to Lay Self Adhesive Flooring

    • 1). Find the center of the room by measuring the distance between two opposing walls.

    • 2). Snap a chalk line between the two points, creating a line that goes across the center of the room.

    • 3). Repeat the process with the other two opposing walls, snapping the chalk line to mark the center of the two points. You'll end up with two chalk lines perpendicular to each other. To make sure the lines are square, use a carpenter's square to confirm the lines form 90-degree angles.

    • 4). Place one tile in the center of the room at the intersection of the two lines. The bottom side of the tile should lie along one line with the left or right side of the tile lying on the other line.

    • 5). Begin laying your tiles. Place the first one right next to the one on the lines. Peel off the paper on the back of each tile to expose the adhesive, and then press each tile firmly into place to help them stick to the floor.

    • 6). Before removing the paper, overlap the last tile in the row that goes next to the wall over the last full tile. Mark the overlapping tile so you know where to make your cut to make the tile fit against the wall.

    • 7). Use an utility knife to cut the tile to the proper size, and then peel the paper off the tile and put the tile in the proper place on the floor.

    • 8). Repeat this process until you've tiled your floor.
