- 1). Connect your iPod to your computer using its USB cable. Launch iTunes if it doesn't open automatically when you connect the iPod. Cancel an automatic sync by clicking the "x" in the iTunes "Message Center" if it informs you it has begun syncing.
- 2). Double-click the name of your iPod in iTunes' left pane, which takes you to the "Summary" tab within iTunes. Click to select the check box next to "Manually Manage Music and Videos."
- 3). Manually add songs to your iPod. Drag songs you want to add from the iTunes Library and drop them onto the icon that represents your iPod in iTunes' left pane.
