Kermit the Frog Bedroom Ideas
- One of the boldest ways to introduce a Kermit the Frog theme to your child's bedroom is by painting the walls in Kermit's trademark shade of green. To get the right color, bring a picture of Kermit with you when you shop for paint. If you can't find a color that matches exactly, you can have a custom shade mixed. Because Kermit's green is a cross between bright lime and pea-green, it can overwhelm a room if you use it for all four walls. Instead, try painting a single wall in the shade and keeping the others white to create an accent wall. Another option is to pair the green with white and create alternating stripes around the room for a fun, whimsical look that fits the theme well.
- Kermit the Frog theme bedding is an ideal fit for your child's room, and you may be able find sheets, pillowcases and a comforter that features the famous frog and his Muppet pals. If you can't locate Kermit bedding, opt for a sheet set that features generic frogs to pick up the theme. You can also mix solid white and Kermit-green sheets for the bed or white-and-green-striped sheets for a fun touch. Add a stuffed Kermit toy, and you'll have the ideal bed for your theme.
- Even if you paint the walls in a shade of Kermit green, you can take your theme a step further by adding a mural. You may hire a mural painter to design it according to your preferences, or you can paint your own. Find an image of Kermit that you like and make a black-and-white copy of it so you can turn it into a transparency sheet. Use an overhead projector to project the transparency on the wall, and trace the image with a pencil. If you don't want to invest in a projector, you can usually rent one from an office supply store. For added fun, consider adding some of Kermit's pals to the design, such as Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and Gonzo. Once you've traced the design on the wall, you can fill it in with acrylic paint.
- While green is obviously a signature color for a Kermit the Frog bedroom, you may also want to introduce a rainbow pattern to the room in tribute to Kermit's hit song "The Rainbow Connection," which climbed America's pop music charts in 1979. Add a few rainbow-striped throw pillows to your green bedding or hang rainbow-striped valances above the windows. You can even create an accent wall by painting vertical or horizontal rainbow stripes across it. Use Kermit's shade of green for the rainbow pattern to tie the room's look together.
