How to Repaint T111 Plywood Types of Siding

    • 1). Scrape the entire surface of the T1-11 siding that you plan to repaint. Once all of the large pieces of paint have been scraped off, brush the surface with a wire brush to remove any loose pieces from the recessed areas of the wood where the scraper couldn't reach. Brush in the same direction as the wood grain.

    • 2). Cut off the tip of the caulk tube with the built-in cutter on the caulk gun. Insert the tube tip first into the gun. Caulk around the outside edges of windows and doors. Smooth out the caulk lines with the tip of a finger.

    • 3). Pour primer into a roller pan. Roll on an even coat of primer with a paint roller, working your way from the top of the siding down until the entire surface is primed. Go back over the siding with a paintbrush and fill in any recessed areas where the roller didn't prime. Allow the primer to dry at least four hours.

    • 4). Add top coat paint into a roller pan and apply paint to a roller. Roll on an even coat of top coat over the primed siding surface. Touch up areas missed by the roller with a paintbrush. Allow the first coat to dry for at least four hours and apply a second coat of paint.
