Hi, I'm Alan David and this is highlights on brown hair. When you are highlighting on brown hair you want to be sure to do something very natural and comparable to the base color so it doesn't stand out and look like stripes. Step one I'm going to use a cap. That's the system I prefer because I have more control. And I'm going to pull through some highlights around the face, very thin fine highlights. So when they grow out they're not obvious. And I'm going to maybe do a little bit thicker highlights through the rest of the hair. But still very small and spread apart because I don't want to change the overall color. I just want to highlight it. And then I'm going to apply bleach and I'm going to usually start at the roots first. Once the roots start to lighten a little I'm going to spread it through to the ends. I'm going to stand right there and watch it. And make sure it comes to the color that I desire for that base color. And once I see that that color is achieved I'm going to rush her over to the shampoo bowl and wash it out. Rinse it off really quick.
