Rustic Bear Decor
- The front porch or entryway is the first impression, so create an outdoor space that reflects the theme of the home. Use outdoor paint and stencils to add bear paw prints to the steps and floor of the entryway. On the porch, stand a bear statue in a corner, or perch a plush bear on a wooden rocking chair. Hang a carved, wooden sign on the front door that reads something like “Bear Lodge.” At the foot of the door, welcome visitors with a bear-themed welcome mat. Light the porch and entryway with rustic lanterns made of wrought iron or tin. Paint bear-themed stencils on the lanterns.
- If your living room features natural walls such as wood or stone, take advantage of this rustic-ready backdrop. Otherwise, paint the walls in a natural, outdoorsy shade, such as the greens and browns of the forest. Alternatively, use a striking red to contrast with the rustic design of the rest of the room. Adorn the walls with paintings of bears, flanked by sconces made of wrought iron or pressed copper. Rustic furniture made of natural materials, such as a leather couch or wooden chairs with plaid cushions, complement the theme. Drape bear-themed throws over the backs of chairs, and place a bearskin rug in front of the fireplace. Combine bear-themed accent pieces, such as candle holders, picture frames and figurines, with natural elements like birch branches and wildflowers to decorate the mantel and tabletops.
- Bear-themed serving pieces and accessories add a touch of whimsy to your rustic kitchen. Display bear-themed tea sets, canisters and platters on wall shelves, countertops and a baker’s rack. A bear-themed wallpaper border or painted, stenciled bear prints might adorn the walls. Hang a series of bear-patterned dinner plates along the backsplash. A wooden table and dining chairs covered with bear-themed placemats and chair pads complete the rustic, bear-themed kitchen.
- Nothing says rustic like a large bed with a carved wooden headboard. Bear-themed linens are available in sets with matching sheets, quilts, curtains and accent rugs. Purchase your favorite set, or make your own with stencils, fabric paint and solid-colored fabric. Hang a portrait of bears in the wilderness over the bed.
- In the bathroom, hang a bear-print shower curtain as the focal point. Bring in complementary towels and a bear-shaped bath mat. Use bear-themed candleholders and mugs to store toothbrushes, cotton swabs and bath soaps. Baskets and copper buckets become rustic storage pieces for rolled towels, toilet paper rolls and hair care accessories.
