How to Decorate With Unframed Mirrors
- 1). Create a tiled effect. Instead of placing one framed mirror on the wall, hang several square, unframed mirrors close together so that they are touching. Cover the entire wall for a dramatic effect, or just one section of the wall in place of one large mirror. For a truly modern look, hang them unevenly, as shown in the image above.
- 2). Make artsy illusions. Hang several small, round unframed mirrors on the wall in a random design, so that it looks like bubbles cascading down your family room wall. In a bedroom, place the same mirrors horizontally in a row to give the effect of portholes in a ship. This works especially well for nautical-themed children's bedrooms.
- 3). Create an abstract effect by hanging an empty frame near, but not around, your mirror. Hang it directly next to the mirror, or diagonally for a more modern look.
- 4). Use unframed mirrors in the bathroom. Bathrooms can be small, and large, heavily-framed mirrors can overwhelm them. Instead, use two unframed, oval mirrors above two sinks for a lighter, more modern feel. Attach ribbon to the back of them and tie the ribbon in a bow above each mirror, to give the illusion that the mirrors are hanging from the ribbons.
- 5). Unframed mirrors look great behind shelves in a bookshelf or other freestanding shelving unit. Lift the shelves from their pegs or side supports, then attach the mirror to the back of the unit with construction adhesive and replace the shelves.
- 6). Hang unframed mirrors in a baby's room, low on the wall or door. With no frame to hold onto, the baby will not be able to pry it off the wall, and babies love to look at themselves in mirrors.
