How to Adjust a Traverse Rod to the Center

104 8
    • 1). Remove the curtain panels from the traverse rod by lifting the curtain pins from the rod. This allows you to easily view the pieces of the rod.

    • 2). Find the center of the curtain rod. Use the measuring tape to measure the length of the rod and then divide the length by two. Measure to the center and then mark it with a small piece of tape.

    • 3). Identify the master carrier and secondary carrier. The traverse rod cord is tied at the primary carrier, while it simply passes through the secondary carrier.

    • 4). Pull the traverse rod cord until the master carrier is positioned at the center of the traverse rod. Usually, this will extend the master carrier side completely.

    • 5). Hold the pull cord taut so the master carrier does not move, and slide the secondary carrier toward the center until it meets the master carrier.

    • 6). Pull the exposed cord in the center of the secondary carrier to form a loop. Secure the loop around the hook or tab near the exposed cord. The hook or tab is typically below the exposed cord, but it may be to the side.

    • 7). Pull the draw cord until the cord loop on the secondary carrier is tight and secure.

    • 8). Remove the tape from the center of the traverse rod and replace the curtain panels.
