Slash Exhaust Tips
- Exhaust tips can complete the look of a customized car, truck or motorcycle.Auto Exhaust image by Digital Photique from Fotolia.com
Though an exhaust tip doesn't actually enhance the performance of a vehicle, it can give the appearance of a high-performance exhaust system. A chrome exhaust tip can add a finishing touch to the look of a customized vehicle or can simply add a small detail to the look of a stock vehicle. Universal slash cut exhaust tips come in different shapes and sizes for fitting motorcycles, cars and trucks. - A good-looking exhaust tip can be a prominent feature on a motorcycle. Unlike those of cars and trucks, a motorcycle's exhaust is almost completely exposed to view. The addition of an exhaust tip, such as the Baron Family Jewels Xtreme Slash can change the overall look of a bike. The Xtreme Slash is exactly as the name implies, an extreme variation on the standard slash cut, with pipe tips coming to an imposing looking point. The Baron tip fits any pipe with a 2-1/4 inches outer diameter with an inner diameter of 2.06 inches to 2.16 inches, and having at least 1 inches of end space on the inside of the pipe for tip insertion. Baron tips can be purchased through the company website (see "References").
- Trucks can get just as fancy with their exhaust tips as can cars and motorcycles. The Gibson Performance Exhaust Company produces six different styles of slant cut exhaust tips for trucks and SUVs. Tips include a regular round slant cut, a rectangular slash cut, an inter cooled slash cut, a sport slash cut, a flame etched sport slant cut and a flame-etched rounded slant cut. Gibson parts must be purchased through a dealer (see "References").
- Car enthusiasts have options when it comes to exhaust tips. Slant cut tips are available in dual exhaust tips, oval, square, long pipe and short. Companies like Bosal Performance and Toucan Industries, maker of Ractive tips, produce universal slant cut exhaust tips with inlet diameters ranging from 1.75 inches up to 3 inches. Neither company sells direct to the public, so parts need to be ordered through a third party dealer.
