How to Find Out the Size of a Lot
- 1). Visit FindLotSize.com. This is an online resource that will help you find out the approximate size of the lot you've purchased or the lot you're interested in purchasing.
- 2). Enter your basic information into the first page of the website. This includes the address of the lot and the city and state where the lot is located. Click "Go," and a map of the surrounding area will appear on the screen.
- 3). Click on the zoom icon until you can see the physical area of the lot. Then, hover the mouse over one corner of the lot, and click it. A blue icon will appear in the corner. Repeat this in the remaining corners of the lot until you've surrounded it. The lot itself will become highlighted on your screen.
- 4). Scroll to the bottom of the screen to view the approximate measurements for the lot. The estimated size will be shown in square feet.
- 5). Measure the lot in person if you need a more precise measurement. To do this, break the lot into manageable areas, preferably square in shape. Measure the length and width of each area. Multiply these two numbers together to get the square footage of one area. Add all the square footage measurements for the areas together to get the square footage for the entire lot.
