103 2
Crimped hair is a fun hairstyle to have.
It's playful and it's perfect for casual afternoon dates or for hanging out with your girlfriends.
It's also very easy to do and doesn't take a lot of time to create if you have your trusty hair straightener around.
Do you know how to crimp your hair with a straightener? It's really very easy.
All you need to do is to follow these simple steps, and you can have stylishly crimped locks.
1.
Wash your hair and dry it thoroughly with a towel.
Make sure that your mop is dry before you apply your hair straightener to it.
That's because your locks can burn a lot more easily if it's wet.
2.
Prep your hair straightener so it gets to the right temperature.
The ideal temperature for crimping is 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Make sure your hair straightener is at the ideal temperature.
If it's too cool, it will take you longer to get your crimps done.
If it's too hot, you'll end up burning your tresses and your skin.
3.
Apply heat-protection leave-on conditioner onto your locks.
Comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb to spread the conditioner evenly onto your tresses as well as to remove the tangles.
4.
Straighten your locks with your hair straightener.
Straightening your hair first will take the frizz out and will allow you to see which parts of your locks you've missed while crimping.
If you don't have time to do this, though, you can skip this part as long as your hair is tangle-free.
5.
Using your wide-toothed comb, part your hair in sections.
The size of the sections you make will determine the texture of your crimps.
If you want wide crimps, you can part your tresses in large sections.
If you want narrower crimps, make these sections smaller.
6.
Clamp one of the sectioned portions of your hair between the plates of your straightener, around a couple of inches away from your face.
Tilt your wrist so the straightener is at a 90-degree angle from your head.
7.
Move your hair straightener one inch down your clamped lock of hair.
Again, tilt your wrist so you're holding the straightener at a 90-degree angle.
The idea here is to create sharp waves on your tresses.
8.
Repeat step seven until you've crimped the entire length of that particular section of your hair.
9.
Spray your crimped lock of hair with a firm-hold hairspray so the crimps will last the whole day.
Make sure to apply the hairspray lightly.
Too much can waterlog your crimps and make them look limp.
10.
Repeat steps six to nine on the other sections of your hair until you've got the crimped do that you want to have.
Crimps are really a fun hairstyle to have.
The great thing about it is if you have your trusty hair straightener and you know how to crimp your hair with a straightener, you can enjoy wearing crimps any time you want them.
