About Natural Salt Lamps
- Crystal salt is pure, unrefined and contains a large number of trace minerals. It is mined from salt deposits created hundreds of millions of years ago. The crystals are typically colored red, orange or pink. Lamps are either crystals in a cut and polished form, or in a natural, rough state. Each lump of crystal is hollowed out and fitted with a bulb or candle holder.
- The distance ions radiate from the lamps range from 3 to 5 feet, so more than one lamp may be necessary depending on room size. Some lamps use 110 volt AC light bulbs, while others use tea lights. Lamp wattage is a matter of personal choice based on the desired lighting effect.
- Salt lamps aid breathing and restful sleep. They also reduce the harmful ions generated by computers. Some believe that the static electrical field created by computers depletes a room of negative ions, causing headaches and lethargy.
