How to Get a Certified Birth Certificate in the State of New Mexico
- 1). Apply for a birth certificate request by mail. Print and fill out the birth search application form. This form is available on the New Mexico vital records website. Make a $10 check or money order out to "New Mexico Vital Records." Mail your application and enclosed fee to:

The certified copy will be delivered to you in about four weeks. - 2). Log on to the VitalChek website to order a birth certificate online. It is a private company that will allow expedited processing of New Mexico birth certificates. Additional fees apply. Proceed through the on-screen prompts. Answer all the questions and enter your billing information to complete the order.
- 3). Order a birth certificate in person by visiting the Bureau of Vital Records office in Santa Fe. It is located at:

Counter service is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
