1994 Probe Transmission Problems
- About Automobile indicates that several 1994 Probe owners experienced severe automatic transmission problems which led to complete transmission failure. Shortly before transmission failure, drivers reported experiencing jerking motions while driving, trouble accelerating and difficulty switching gears.
- Aside from transmission failure, Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) points out that transmission leakage is a common 1994 Probe issue. Transmission fluid is known to leak from the transaxle seal, which then puddles on top of the transaxle. TSB indicates this type of leak often appears to be a pan gasket leak, but is not.
- Auto MD estimates the cost for automatic transmission assembly at $3,841 (as of January 2011). Transaxle replacement is included in the transmission assembly, as well as new automatic transmission fluid.
