    Washing

    • 1). Fill a 5-gallon bucket with warm, soapy water. Use the sponge to clean the exterior surface of the vehicle, removing dirt and grime with circular, sweeping motions.

    • 2). Splash soapy water on the wheels and hubcaps. Use the brush to scrub dirt and grime from the wheels and hubcaps or rims.

    • 3). Spray water from the hose on the car and wheels to remove the soapy residue. Don't allow the soap to dry on the car.

    • 4). Spray the windows with window cleaner. Wipe the cleaner from the windows with a folded paper towel. Repeat as needed to remove streaks.

    Waxing

    • 1). Wait until your car has dried. Park your car in the shade to wax it.

    • 2). Work in small sections. Apply a thin layer of wax to each section. Wait for it to haze, or turn slightly gray and white.

    • 3). Remove the wax by polishing with a soft cloth. Repeat on all painted surfaces of the car.

    Interior Cleaning

    • 1). Pick up any trash in your car and place it into a small trash bag. Keep a small supply of trash bags in your car for cleaning up after meals.

    • 2). Use a shop vacuum to remove dirt and debris. Add a narrow nozzle attachment for hard-to-reach places, such as the space between and underneath seats. Use a stiff brush, soap and water to remove dirt or mud from seats or floorboards.

    • 3). Spray cleaning solution on your seats, dashboard and steering wheel to clean them and prevent them from cracking or drying out. Use paper towels to remove any streaking left from the cleaning solution.

    • 4). Clean the inside of your windows with glass cleaner. Use paper towels to remove any streaks.
