Strut Bar Instructions for a PT Cruiser
- 1). Open the hood so that you can access the tops of the strut towers in the engine bay. Spray a mild cleaner on the nuts that hold the upper part of the struts to the bodywork and wipe them down with a clean rag.
- 2). Remove the nuts that are fastened to the studs that protrude from the tops of the strut towers with a socket and a ratchet. Place the nuts in a baggy or a container of some sort so that they are not misplaced or lost.
- 3). Slide the strut brace into place on the shock towers by aligning the studs with the corresponding holes that are drilled in the strut brace. Most strut braces are held on with two of the strut tower nuts, though some brands may use all three nuts.
- 4). Test fit the installation of the strut brace by slowly lowering the hood to the fully closed position and ensuring that the hood closes fully without any interference between the hood and the brace.
- 5). Open the hood back up. Thread the strut tower nuts onto the studs and strut brace. The nuts will now be securing the struts as well as holding the strut brace in place. Tighten the nuts with the socket and ratchet. Close the hood.
