    Downloading Music into iTunes

    • 1). Launch Apple's iTunes program, and then place a CD into the computer's CD-ROM Drive. Once the drive is closed, the songs on the CD will appear in iTunes. If the CD is commercially produced, the song names will appear, but if it is a mixed CD created by an individual, the song titles will appear as Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, and so on. A pop-up, or dialog, box will ask if you would like to download the CD; click yes.

However, if there are specific songs that you do not want imported, make sure to uncheck them by clicking in the box to left of the song title.

If the dialog box does not appear, click the "Import CD" button at the bottom right corner of the iTunes window.

    • 2). Launch iTunes and then drag and drop music from the computer's music folder into the main iTunes window, which will import the music automatically.

Another option to import music is by clicking on the iTunes File menu and choosing "Import." The import dialog box will help you navigate to where the song is saved. Once the song is chosen, click the "Choose" or "Open" button and iTunes will transfer the music into the library.

    • 3). Download music from iTunes Store, which can be launched by clicking on the link on the left side of the iTunes window. Once a song is found, click on the "Buy" button and it will be downloaded into iTunes.

    Transfer Music to iPod

    • 1). Connect one end of a USB 2.0 cable to your iPod and the other to the computer. Once the two are connected, iTunes will sync the iPod with the music on the computer.

    • 2). To set your iTunes to sync music automatically or manually, select your iPod on the left of the iTunes browser, then click on the "Music" tab. After this is opened, click the box to the left of "Sync Music." You now have the opportunity to sync all songs or only those you select.

    • 3). Manually syncing music can also be done by connecting your iPod to the computer and then opening iTunes. Select your iPod on the left-hand side of the iTunes window, then click on the "Summary" tab. Under "Options," check the box next to "Manually manage music and videos," and then hit apply. Select and drag the music wanted onto the iPod. The iPod must be manually ejected when using this option.
