How to Sew the Neck of a Blouse
- 1). Analyze your blouse pattern. Pick up your body pattern and your collar pattern. Look at the shape of your blouse. Place both parts of the pattern on a flat ironing board. Place the neck collar in line with the top of the blouse body.
- 2). Fashion the neck collar with the blouse and secure it together with pins. Try on the blouse to see how the neckline sits. If you are happy with the neck position, take it off and place it on the ironing board.
- 3). Turn the blouse inside out and place it under the sewing machine. The sewing machine should be threaded with the same color thread as your blouse. Starting at one end of the neckline, sew the neck to the blouse with a basic stitch to connect the fabrics together.
- 4). Turn the blouse over and stitch in the other direction, over the basic stitch with a top stitch, to create a strong and stable stitch.
- 5). Flip the shirt inside-out and check the evenness of the stitches. If the stitches are uneven, rip them out and start again until you have an even, straight line.
