How to Protect Hardwood Floors From a Nailer

104 4
    • 1). Handle the nailer carefully to avoid an accidental discharge that could damage the floor. Treat the nailer like a traditional firearm by keeping your finger off the trigger until you are actually ready to use it and not pointing the tool at anything that you don't want damaged.

    • 2). Lay a mat or protective covering over the hardwood floor to help prevent the wood floor from being scratched. This also protects the floor from being damaged by any shrapnel caused from a nailer striking another surface at high speed. Small fragments can burst out from around the nail, and a mat will prevent the fragments from harming the hardwood floor, since wood is easily scratched.

    • 3). Unplug the nailer or take the battery out anytime the device is not being used, even if it is only for a few minutes. Not only is this a good safety tip, it also helps prevent a nail discharge that can damage the floor.
