How to Crown Mold an End Cap

    • 1). Miter the main piece of crown molding just as if you were going to continue the molding straight back into the wall at 90 degrees. The end cap will attach to this mitered end.

    • 2). Attach this molding with the power nailer. The molding is now ready for the end cap.

    • 3). Cut a short length of crown molding just as if you were going to continue right through the wall at 90 degrees. This gives you the proper cut to match the mitered end of the attached molding. Use a piece of crown molding long enough to keep your fingers well away from the saw blade.

    • 4). Measure the distance from the top of the crown molding to the wall. This is the length of the piece needed for the end cap.

    • 5). Cut the end cap from the beveled end of the cut crown molding at 90 degrees. The top should be the distance measured from the molding to the wall, and the bottom should come to a point.

    • 6). Glue and nail this small end cap in place using the wood glue and nail gun.
