How to Make Necklaces Out of Acrylic Tiles

    • 1). Locate an image to use for your tile pendant. You can use an image printed from the computer or cut from magazine or decorative papers. Make sure the image is the correct size to cover the front of the acrylic tiles you chose. Some acrylic tiles come with small pre-drilled holes. These holes are very tiny, and are only useful for scrapbooking. For making jewelry, you will want to cover this hole with the image and attach a larger bail that you can slide onto a thick cord or chain. Cut out the image to size using a pair of scissors.

    • 2). Paint a thin layer of decoupage medium onto the acrylic tile. Place the image onto the wet medium, and press the image into place. Wipe your finger across the image to remove any air bubbles. Wipe excess glue with a cloth. If your tile has a pre-drilled hole, use caution when smoothing over this area to avoid poking through. Allow drying for about 15 minutes.

    • 3). Place a large drop of diamond glaze medium onto the tile and brush the glaze across the top to cover the image evenly. Make sure that you have an even coat of glaze, not too thin or thick in any one area. Diamond glaze will give your finished tile a hard, glass finish. Allow drying for about two hours, or until it is no longer tacky to touch.

    • 4). Apply a glue-on bail to the back of the acrylic tile. Place a drop of instant glue on the textured front tab of the bail, and then press the bail to the back, top area of the tile. Make sure the loop of the bail is flush with the top of the tile. Allow drying for about 30 seconds.

    • 5). Thread the acrylic tile pendant onto chain. Alternatively, cut a piece of cord or yarn to the length you desire, thread the pendant and then tie a double knot to secure the two ends together.
