    Causes

    Symptoms

    • Symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum are persistent nausea, uncontrollable vomiting, dehydration, nutrition deficiencies, shivering, rapid heart rate, weight loss, extreme fatigue and increased salivation.

    Complications

    • If left untreated, this condition can cause severe weight loss and malnutrition, which can become life threatening, as well as liver or stomach complications. However, hyperemesis gravidarum causes no severe complications with the baby.

    Treatment

    • It is vital that you receive treatment for this condition immediately to reduce any potential complications. You may have to be hospitalized to increase your fluid intake and to correct nutritional balances. You will also be prescribed medications to minimize the nausea and vomiting.
