How to Cut a Shirt Like a Jersey
- 1). Try the shirt on to make sure the fit is perfect. Use a pen or fabric chalk to make a mark under your armpit where you want the sleeve hole to end.
- 2). Lay the shirt on a flat surface, such as a countertop or ironing board, and smooth the wrinkles. Shirts that are heavily wrinkled need to be ironed prior to cutting to ensure an even cut.
- 3). Cut along the outside of the sleeve seams. Cutting the seams off completely causes unraveling threads. Start at the mark under the armpit and cut upward until the entire sleeve is gone. Discard the fabric.
- 4). Repeat with the other sleeve.
- 5). Adjust the neckline to your preference by cutting the shirt into a V-neck or scoop neck. Use a pen, or fabric chalk, to create an even "V" or scoop. Cut the fabric and discard.
