    • 1). Cut strips of laminate with the laminate cutter that measure slightly wider than the the countertop. If you need to piece several strips together, the ends of the strips must be square.

    • 2). Apply a coat of laminate glue onto the back of the strips and then apply a coat of laminate glue on the edge of the countertop. Wait for the glue to dry to the touch. Even dry to the touch, it will adhere to itself.

    • 3). Place the strip of laminate on the edge of the countertop. Start at one end and work your way around the counter. Press the strip onto the countertop with a laminate roller. If you need to use several strips, butt the pieces together tightly.

    • 4). Trim the top and bottom of the trim flush with the countertop with the laminate trimmer. A laminate trimmer looks similar to a small router. Place the base of the trimmer on the new laminate and run the cutter around the edges.

    • 5). Cut a piece of laminate large enough to fit on top of the counter, making it oversized. If you need to butt two pieces together, cut it so the butt joint is in the center of the sink. This will minimize the size of the butt joint and make it less noticeable.

    • 6). Apply the laminate glue to both the laminate and countertop and then wait for it to dry to the touch.

    • 7). Position evenly spaced wooden rods across the countertop and then place the laminate onto the rods.

    • 8). Pull out the center rod and then press the laminate against the countertop. Use the roller to roll out the air bubbles. Pull out a rod on either side and roll the laminate into place. Continue this until you complete the installation.

    • 9). Place the laminate trimmer on top of the counter and run the cutter along the edge of the countertop to remove the excess laminate.
