Mara Hoffman at New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015
Mara Hoffman let the sunshine in at Lincoln Center with her delightful spring/summer 2015 collection. As a remix of the oldie “Sunny” played, models floated down the runway in light and easy silhouettes emblazoned with sunrises, sunrays and rainbows. Titled “The Sunrisers,” the collection offered a mix of elegant maxi dresses, breezy jumpsuits and beachy culottes that make you wish for a few more months of summer.
As always, Hoffman energized her collection with a retro vibe that recalled lazy poolside days from the late ’70s.
Beautifully messy braids and effortless makeup and nails, by Nick Irwin of Catwalk by TIGI and Maybelline NY respectively, completed the ultra chill ensembles. It’s a collection that made me smile—and made me want every piece!
During the show (on Saturday, September 6, 2014, 2 p.m.), I sat in the third row and spotted acclaimed (and handsome!) fashion photographer Nigel Barker sitting front row right in front of me with his young daughter Jasmine at his side. He whispered to her often during the show, which was adorable! Also in the audience was Langley Fox Hemingway, actress Mariel Hemingway’s daughter and Ernest Hemingway’s great-granddaughter.
