We all realize how important exercise is for good health.
But after a long day it is so hard to find the time and motivation for fitness.
With all the things we have to do with work and family our time already seems stretched to the limit.
How can we possibly find a spare minute? Guess what? There is time in your day for fitness! You just need to be creative in finding it.
So many people think that you can only exercise if you have an hour block of time to put on the fitness clothes and head to the gym or for a jog.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
In fact, you can squeeze in little bits of fitness throughout the day.
Just shoot for thirty minutes total and you will be doing great.
Of course an intense workout is good for getting your heart rate up and you should try to get a sustained workout when you can.
But rather than give up on exercise on your busy days, just work it in.
It is possible to get small bursts of aerobic activity in.
Run in place or do some jumping jacks.
Is there a good song on the radio? Dance to your heart's content and do your heart some good while you are at it.
These short exercise sessions can really add up and they are far better than doing nothing at all! You don't have to get sweaty to get fit, just put out a little extra effort.
Park further away from the door and use the stairs instead of the elevator.
Little things like that can add up.
If you have a spare minute at work, take a brisk walk around the office instead of hitting the vending machine.
One good motivator is to wear a small pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps per day.
Seeing how far you actually walk each day really helps you to pick up your step and go further! Play with your kids.
This is a great way to have family time and fitness time together.
Spend time outside playing ball or going for walks.
Visit the park and shoot hoops.
Not only will you be making time for fitness, you will be teaching your children the importance of exercise.
Find a workout that you enjoy.
If you hate to run you are not going to get up early in the morning to hit the treadmill.
You have to be motivated for an exercise program to be effective.
Too many people give up before they really get going because the either dislike the exercise they have chosen.
Try different things, maybe you will find you like yoga or swimming.
Your favorite exercise may be something you have never tried before, be adventurous! When you find something you like doing it is easier to make time in your day for fitness.
Whatever you choose to do, make sure you start out slowly.
Many people give up because of injuries that could have been prevented if they would have taken precautions.
You may think you can run a 5k tomorrow, but your body might not agree! One of the good things about fitness is that every little bit you do counts.
A fifteen minute spurt here, a thirty minute walk there all add up to your total fitness.
You can get fit even with a busy life.
Change the way you think about exercise and create time for short workouts throughout your day.
Your body will thank you for it.
