How to Decorate a Toddler's Bedroom
- 1). Choose a cheery paint color for the walls. Take your toddler to the store to select a few paint samples to take home. Tape them to the wall, and see if she shows an interest or preference in one color over the other. Consider using two contrasting yet compatible colors, such as green and orange or pink and yellow. One shade can go on a pair of facing walls; the other shade can go on the other pair.
- 2). Move all furniture to the middle of the room, cover the floor with drop cloths and paint the walls with the chosen color. Give your little one a paintbrush of his own -- you can cover the areas he paints later with an extra coat if needed.
- 3). Hang a few pieces of framed artwork. Go with a theme that your child already likes, such as a beloved cartoon character, or go for animals or even simple silhouettes of trees or people. Keep your wall paint in mind as you look for prints.
- 4). Incorporate a bookshelf into the room. A small bookshelf mounted on the wall is an attractive decorative component. Fill it with a few classic children's books, and complete it with a pair of bookends. You can also put in a standard bookcase. In addition to books, add small fabric boxes with her toys nestled inside.
- 5). Add a small table and chairs to make a child's room welcoming. Pick a wooden set for a classic feel or a modern and colorful set depending on the rest of the decor.
