How to Reinstall Microsoft XP
- 1). Turn your computer on. Before the Windows boot screen loads, press the "F1," "F2," or "Delete" key on your keyboard. The BIOS screen will open to facilitate a new boot using the Windows XP installation disc.
- 2). Insert the Windows XP installation disc into the CD-ROM drive and press any key on your keyboard to start the installation process.
- 3). Select "Repair Previous Install" on the Windows XP installation screen and press the "R" key to save existing data on your hard drive. Select "New Install" if you wish to erase all data from your hard drive. Agree to the Microsoft product license agreement by pressing the "F8" key on your keyboard. Press the "Enter" button to continue the reinstallation of Windows XP.
- 4). Allow your computer to restart. Do not press any keys on your keyboard when the "Press Any Key" prompt appears.
- 5). Follow the setup instructions in the setup wizard by inputting your language, region, name, organization, computer name and administrator password. Select the current date and time and click "Next," which will restart your computer.
- 6). Continue to follow the instructions prompted on the welcome screen. Use your administrator name and password to log into the newly reinstalled Windows XP.
