Decorating Ideas for Dome-Curved Walls
- Because typical art pieces do not fit on curved walls, hire a professional to paint a mural on the walls and ceiling. Choose a theme to display, such as an ocean or forest scene. Painting the walls in an outdoor scene makes the space feel more spacious and airy. Murals are often very detailed and realistic, turning the walls into a focal point.
- Stick a removable wall decal on the wall to act as a piece of art. Wall decals are pliable and will easily form to domed walls. Some wall decals act as picturesque artwork, and others are letters. For an artistic decal, choose a style that matches the decor of your home. If you use lettering, use a decal that spells your last name, or order a custom decal that writes your favorite quote, extending it across the length of a wall.
- Hang long, thin pieces of art. Because they are not wide, the thin art pieces will mount on curved walls. Choose pieces that measure no more than one foot wide. Another option is to hang decorative fabric tapestries. Keep the tapestries thin as well to ensure they better conform to the wall curve.
- Install custom shelving that curves with the wall. The shelving creates a place to display decorative items. Display accessories, artwork and framed family photos on the shelves. If desired, utilize several design elements at once, such as shelving and a wall decal. Doing so will utilize extra space on large dome-curved walls.
