How to Make a Wooden Drumstick
- 1). Clamp a 1-inch wood ball in a vice. Line the vice's jaws with felt to avoid leaving marks in the wood.
- 2). Mark the top of the ball with a dot.
- 3). Drill a 3/8-inch hole halfway through the ball.
- 4). Cut a 12-inch piece of 3/8-inch-thick dowel with a saw.
- 5). Insert the dowel into the ball's hole to ensure that it fits snugly.
- 6). Place a few drops of PVA wood glue into the hole, then insert the dowel and twist it to spread the glue across the joint.
- 7). Wipe off any excess glue with a wet paper towel, then allow the glue to dry overnight.
- 8). Sand the drumstick with 180-grit sandpaper to prepare it for paint. Wipe it with a tack cloth to remove the sanding dust.
- 9). Hold the dowel and paint the drumstick's head with brightly-colored acrylic paint. Allow the paint to dry.
- 10
Hold the ball and paint the dowel with another color of paint. Allow this paint to dry as well.
