- 1). Place a coaster on the marble furniture whenever you need to place a glass on it. The coaster will protect the marble from developing ring stains.
- 2). Wipe up anything you spill on marble furniture immediately, before the stain sets. Be especially vigilant about spills of acidic juices, which can etch the marble.
- 3). Wipe down the marble once a week with a damp sponge to remove the dust. Dry it with a clean towel.
- 4). Fill a bowl with one cup of warm water and add 1/2 teaspoon of liquid dishwashing soap. Dip a clean sponge into the soapy water and wipe the surface of the marble with it. Rinse the sponge clean and wipe the surface again to rinse. Dry the furniture with a clean towel. Do this once a year.
- 5). Apply a marble sealer to the furniture according to the package directions, once every one to two years. The sealer will prevent stains from setting.
