How to Make Fabric Boutonnieres
- 1). Draw a small petal shape and a larger petal shape on a piece of paper and cut them out to serve as a templates for two flowers. Use the templates to cut out five petals of each size for the fabric flowers. Trim the edges of each petal to curb the fraying of the fabric. Lay one small petal down on a clean, flat surface and place a small dab of glue on top at the bottom. Place another small petal on top at an angle and press down. Continue this process until all of the small petals are in place in a circular array. Make the larger flower in the same manner.
- 2). Place a small dab of glue in the center of the larger flower petals. Press the smaller flower down in the middle at an alternate angle to the large flower. Fluff the leaves out so they lie evenly and both the large and small flower petals can be seen from the front. Place a large dab of glue in the center of the small flower and press a colorful button down in the middle securing the petals to this central embellishment.
- 3). Cut a sprig from the stem of berries to about 3 inches long. Turn the flower over so it lies on its face. Place a thick line of glue on the back of the large flower and press the stem into place so the bare stem extends down from the bottom of the flowers.
- 4). Cut a length of ribbon 4 inches long. Place a small dab of glue on the back of the boutonniere at the base of the leaves. Press the end of the ribbon onto the glue. Wrap the ribbon onto the berry stem securing it with each twist with a dab of glue. Secure the end of the ribbon on the back of the boutonniere at the end of the berry sprig.
- 5). Turn the boutonniere onto its back and glue the pin back on with a large dab of glue. Repeat this process for as many boutonnieres as required for the groom, groomsmen and fathers of the bride and groom.
