    Physical Characteristics

    • The 2nd generation iPod Nano is 3.5 inches in height, 1.6 inches wide, .26 inches thick and has a 1.5 inch screen. The 3rd generation iPod Nano made a major departure from the appearance of the 2G. It is 2.75 inches in height, 2.06 inches wide and .26 inches thick. Overall, the 3G iPod is more square than the 2G.

      It weighs 1.41 ounces whereas the 2nd generation weighs 1.74 ounces. Both are available in six colors. The 2G and 3G iPod Nano both have a click-wheel to control the iPod.

    Capacity

    • The 2nd generation iPod Nano came in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB capacities and holds 500, 1,000 or 2,000 songs. The 3rd generation iPod Nano only came in 4GB and 8GB sizes, which hold up to 1,000 or 2,000 songs.

    Features

    • Both the 2G iPod Nano and the 3G iPod Nano have a backlight screen. It takes about three hours to fully charge both generations, but 80 percent of the charge is complete within one and a half hours. The charge allows up to 24 hours of playback time on both models. The 2G iPod Nano and the 3G iPod Nano both play music, audiobooks, podcasts and videos. The 3G iPod Nano's slightly larger screen and squarer dimensions allow for easier video viewing.
