How to Hang Something Heavy Without Wall Damage
- 1). Choose the size strip that you need based on the weight of the item you are hanging. Small hooks are approximately 2 1/2 inches in length and hold up to a pound of weight. Medium hooks are approximately 3 inches and can hold 3 lbs. Large hooks are a little more than 3 1/2 inches and hold 5 lbs., and the jumbo hooks are 4 1/4 inches and can hold 7 1/2 lbs.
- 2). Separate the hanging strips by pulling the front side away from the back side. Use a fingernail to gently pull up one side and peel the sides from each other.
- 3). Place one side of the tape onto the item that you are hanging and one side onto the wall. Use the tape in all four corners of the object and on the wall. You may need to use a tape measure to get the exact measurements. Measure from the floor to the place on the wall where you want to hang the item. Make a mark on the wall with a pencil on both sides so the strips are even. The tabs, or the rounded part of the tape, should face down.
- 4). Wait at least 30 minutes for the tape to set on both the object and the wall.
- 5). Line up both sides of the tape and apply gentle pressure to stick the object onto the wall.
