Instructions to Install a Turbo Kit
- 1). Disconnect negative battery terminals on both batteries and take out the battery on the passenger side, air filter box, air duct that goes from the box to the turbo and the pipe that connects the intercooler to the turbo. Unplug the exhaust down pipe from the back of the turbo, the oil lines that go to the top and bottom of the turbo and any lines running to the waste gate. Take out the manifold and turbo. You can remove the manifold as one piece after removing the 12 manifold bolts.
- 2). Remove the filter and plug attached to the engine block and attach the ATS turbo oil drain. In order to install the oil drain, press the O-ring end into the hole completely. Slacken the 3 clamps that hold the 2 pipes on the ATS compound turbo assembly. Unbolt the 5 bolts holding the waste gate housing to the exhaust housing of the smaller turbo. This installation may require you to move the transmission fluid dipstick tube and/or air conditioning lines. Ensure that you do not bend the line(s).
- 3). Place the Aurora 5000 and 2000 turbos into the engine compartment and bolt the
manifold of the Aurora 2000 into the engine head. Someone can lend you a hand to simplify this process. Bolt both turbos with the 5 bolts that held the waste gate housing. Attach oil return lines and ensure gaskets are properly aligned. The Aurora 2000 and 5000 will use the front return fitting and the factory return line and feed into the rear return fitting on the lower side of the motor respectively. - 4). Unplug the factory oil supply line from the oil filter housing and attach the ATS 3-inch
extension into the filter housing. Join this connection to the factory oil line and the supply
fitting for the Aurora 5000. Take out the 1/8 inch pipe plug near to the motor on the factory oil filter housing, attach the blue 1/8 inch fitting and reconnect the supplied feed line for the Aurora 2000. - 5). Connect the factory exhaust elbow to the back of the Aurora 5000 and fasten the elbow to the downpipe of the exhaust system. Attach the discharge pipe from the Aurora 5000 to the inlet of the Aurora 2000. Use the tube and clamps that come with the kit. Connect the discharge pipe from the Aurora 2000 to the intercooler (this may require you to slacken the clamps of the compressor housing of the Aurora 2000 in order to clock the housing/pipe). Make sure to retighten all clamps on the Aurora 2000 after this process.
- 6). Place oil filter back into engine and the black 5-inch 90 flexible hose for the air inlet of the Aurora 5000. Attach the 4-inch molded hose and the 5-inch 90 flexible hose under the battery tray. You must have the inlet of the pipe face up toward the hood. This will facilitate the attachment of the air filter. Connect the air filter to the 4-inch molded hose.
- 7). Disconnect the air sensor from the stock turbo and attach to the wiring harness in the truck. Tie the sensor with wire and ensure that it is away from other connections.
- 8). Ensure that all fittings, clamps and bolts are tight.
- 9). Connect negative battery terminals.
