    • 1). Drill three holes through the top of the sheet metal piece. Make the holes large enough that the tube slides through the hole. Arrange the holes evenly around the edges of the metal, making each hole approximately 1 inch from the outside edge of the metal.

    • 2). Insert one of the metal tubes through one of the holes you made. Turn the tripod onto its side and tap the end of the tube with the hammer until the tube bends over the metal. Repeat the process with each of the other metal tubes and stand upright, with the tripod supporting the weight of the metal top.

    • 3). Cut three lengths off the metal chain with the electric saw, making each piece approximately a foot long. Hold one chain in your hand, as you untwist one link. Place the line around the bottom of the grill grate and twist closed with the pliers. Attach the other lengths of chain to the grate by untwisting one end and twisting the metal closed around the grate.

    • 4). Open the hook and slide one of the grill grate chains around the hook. Slip the opposite end of the chain around the hook. Move around the hook, attaching the other two chains to the hook. Cut a new piece of chain approximately 3-feet long. Run one end of the chain around the hook. When you lift the chain, the three grate chains fall to the bottom of the hook and the top chain sits at the top of the hook.

    • 5). Make a hole in the center of the top metal piece, large enough for the chain. Run the chain through the center hole and hang over one side. Attach the chain to one leg of the tripod with a clamp. When you adjust the grill, you unscrew the clamp and move the chain up or down before clamping it back in place.
