How to Troubleshoot the Wiper Arm on the Jeep Grand Cherokee
- 1). Examine the Grand Cherokee's driver's side wiper arm. If there is external damage to the arm, it will be evident: Wiper arms should be straight.
- 2). Lift the wiper arm away from the Jeep Grand Cherokee's windshield. Look behind the wiper arm: You will notice a long, rectangular space. This space houses with wiper arm's spring. Look at the spring and how it stretches. If the spring is worn, it will be loose. If the wiper arm is difficult to move, or if it makes a creaking metal sound, look to see if the spring is rusted or corroded. Either problem requires you to replace the spring.
- 3). Remove the covering at the base of the wiper arm and inspect the arm's connection to the pivoting bolt. In some Grand Cherokees, this may be a threaded spline. Check to see if this connection is loose, and if so, tighten it.
